It’s Time for Alaska to Shutdown 80% of our Brick & Mortar Schools Forever…..

It’s About time Alaska School system stepped into the 21st century.

This Coronavirus Covid-19 does have a silver lining for all Alaskans to acknowledge.  It has shown us all there is another way that we can run our Schools and it doesn’t require having the overhead of the Brick & Mortar system that has been failing our kids for decades now.

Covid has shown us all that 80% of Alaska’s schools can be shut down and nearly all classes can be taught virtually online.

We could save our State upwards to $700 Million a year by embracing the fact that teaching can be done from our own homes. Funding for Early Learning and K-12 can be drastically cut by making this move.

Alaska has nothing to lose by doing this. We are already the worst in the nation for providing a quality education and are Number one for Spending.

Time for Alaskans to Stand up and demand the change to become permanent! By making this move into virtual classroom we could become number One in the Nation for a Quality Education and dead last for how much it cost to operate.

From Governor Mike Dunleavy:

“I’d like to highlight some of the incredible work happening within your state government in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. This week, Commissioner Dr. Michael Johnson of the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development announced the launch of the Alaska Statewide Virtual School which offers a full slate of online courses for K-12 students.

As a former educator I understand the crucial role our public schools and education system play in society. COVID-19 has disrupted the lives of students and families across our great state, but it has not changed Alaska’s commitment to student learning and success.

A sincere thanks to Commissioner Johnson and his team for establishing the program to ensure our students don’t fall behind.

From all impressions that I’m getting from Alaska’s School Districts. They have done everything they can to make this fail, finding every excuse in the book to justify keeping the Brick and Mortar schools system intact.

I have family and friends in the Matsu and ASD school systems. Most of their children were failing in all of their classes before this virus hit. Now they are getting strait A’s in all of their courses and they are nearly done with everything provided to them for the current 2020-2021 school year.  It really does appear to me it is working better than expected for many in Alaska.

So the questions I have are:
“Why are Virtual Schools not being made permanent?”

“Why did our School Districts in Alaska decide to create their own Version of the Brick & Mortar School System & not embrace already established Home School Virtual Platforms?”

Here is another prime example why Alaska Schools need to go to Virtual Classroom.  One school in Alaska on only has only Six Students in it that is costing $139,000 per Kid. That is Two years worth of College per kid if we sent them to Harvard.

Are you beginning to see The Problem Yet?

May 26, 2020:

Facts Matter…. Until they can explain why this can’t work. I will keep sharing this.

The excuses they give why it won’t work are….

Students are not showing up for Zoom Classes.
Internet isn’t available in many areas.
Parents lost the Daycare that sending them to School gives them for free.
Teachers miss their students.

Number One Reason they don’t want to go to Virtual Classrooms.

“Teachers will be the only “Real Essential Component” that the K-12 Budget would have to pay for. Those in charge of things, would no longer be relevant.”

503 School Districts in Alaska could be rolled into one over night and Hundreds of Millions would be cut from the budget in a blink of an eye.

Nothing to Lose and Everything to Gain!

We are already worst in the Nation for getting an Education and Number One for Spending. Don’t you all think it is time to change that?

May 31, 2020:

As if we really needed another reason for move our education out of the Brick and Mortar Schools. Fairbanks is pushing a very radical shift to what they are going to be teaching our students in School.

Anchorage knows they have to make changes. So how did they address the Budget issues they are having? Did they consolidate the empty Schools? Maybe they decided to use Chromebooks? Hmmmm…. Maybe they consolidated all of the School Districts there into one?

Nope….. They didn’t try to do a thing to change the worst in the Nation for getting an Education in the USA.

They just raised the Property Taxes on everyone living there to pay for it.

Sadly the link above no longer goes to the article at KTVA11.  Ever since they were bought out by CNN and changed their name to Alaska News Source.  All postings they have ever made before that on Facebook have been removed by them.  Here is a link to what I had written back then about how Anchorage addressed the problem.

June 20, 2020:

June 17, 2020 the Matsu School Board had a meeting to discuss what the future of our next school year may end up looking like. They presented three plans to address the Covid-19 Virus.

Two of the three plans require them to be using Virtual Classrooms. People need to wakeup and realize that we are living in the 21st Century. We have a chance to finally make changes that will make a difference in how Alaskans are getting educated. I have said this time and time again…. We are Dead Last for getting an Education and Number One for how much it costs to do it. Here is our chance to finally change that. Lets be completely honest here. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by making it happen.

June 3, 2020:

Once again Local News Media fails you highlight that VIRTUAL Classrooms are working.

ASD gave out the numbers for those who passed and failed this year. Very grim picture they painted until you actually look at the number of Seniors that Graduated or the fact that those who actually participated, improved. Facts Matter…. They just don’t want you to know the truth.

For decades now our education system has failed our kids and what the media doesn’t want you to know is the reason why Anchorage has to extend the school year.

“They couldn’t get students to show up for class on the Virtual Platform.”

Those that did were able to complete work at their own pace and the “Majority” that actually participated, improved. Just imagine what could of been accomplished if the Teachers and Students had “All Been Taught” how to use the Chromebook’s and Zoom prior to the Virus forcing them into the 21st Century.

Since these “Facts” contradict the narrative they are trying to spin to protect our failed Brick and Mortar Schools System that provides the worst education in the Nation at the highest costs. They refuse to let you know that they created their own version of Virtual Classrooms this coming school year 2020-2021.  Based on the exact same Brick & Mortar way of teaching that forces students to spend hours in front of a computer screen listening to their teacher give speeches about what they want them to learn.  When I went to school.  I found this was the best time to catch up on my sleep I didn’t get the night before, trying to do all the Homework they pass out at the end of class to take home and do.

Here is what happened at the end of the 2019-2020 School year.

From KTVA11:  (They removed the Article but I was fortunate enough to have copied the relevant information from it, into what I had posted that day.)

“However, the senior class had an interesting reversal with a decrease in failing grades — from 6.79% to 4.75%.

Many of the seniors, when given the opportunity to go in, in a asynchronous online environment, and rock through all their assignments and get that stuff and move on with their lives, many of them chose to do that,” Stock said. “Because now, instead of a timed and seat-based environment, they actually had an environment where they controlled their time usage, they controlled when they did their assignments etc. So many of them evidently wanted to move on with their senior year.”
==========
In other words. If they needed help from teachers they were finally able to receive it. They could move through assignments on a very rapid pace and not held back by others who needed more help.
Those needing more help to understand from teachers. Now could provide Zoom Classrooms to answer questions from those struggling and the ones that failed was due to either, Zero participation in the Virtual Classrooms (same ones who failed already in the Brick and Mortar schools) and parents who didn’t care enough to actually get their kids to do the work.

This is one more reason that Brick and Mortar Schools should be shutdown.

They are more worried about teaching our children Diversity, then they are about teaching them how to read, write and do arithmetic. Alaska is the worst in the Nation and what is our School System doing to fix that? Obviously that isn’t their Priority anymore.  Fairbanks has of this year added into their curriculum LGBTQ Classes.  Meanwhile in Anchorage.  The Ex-Mayor and Assembly passed this below.  They did it this summer when they locked us all out of the Assembly Meeting.  They broke Alaska Laws, so they could write Laws that goes against the Law :

August 23, 2020:

Here we are beginning the new year and what they once called Crisis Learning is starting to become more mainstream then they want to admit. Sad part is they don’t want to loosen their Iron Grip for the Money they get paid to run the worst K-12 School System in the Nation. Is anybody else the least bit surprise to hear that nearly half of Alaskans children have enrolled into Virtual Homeschool Classrooms permanently?  Many parents were smart enough to see the “New Learning Platform” that the Brick & Mortar Schools were setting up, were destined to be a failure.  (Sadly they have Proven this Prediction to be very true.)

Let’s get something perfectly clear here. $18,000 per student to be in a Brick & Mortar School System VS $5,500 per student in Virtual Classrooms. Doing the Math it becomes perfectly clear why they don’t want to get rid of the Brick & Mortar Schools. There is no money in it.

September 20, 2020:

People keep giving the argument their children need to have a more structured environment for their children to learn in.  Let’s be honest here.  They use our Schools as a Daycare and as place to teach our kids in.

With the right Virtual Classroom environment for the younger students. Places like the Boys and Girls Club, ABT Church and other such places could be what we should be transforming our future of education into. They claim they can’t send them to school because of the Virus. But have no problem sending their kids to go to those places and daycare. Can you see the hypocrisy behind what is happening out there.

Click this link and see exactly what I mean….:

September 2, 2020:

With our Schools throughout the State now Half Empty as many have chosen to enroll into Online Learning Permanently. Teachers are all in a panic wondering what is to become of the Brick and Mortar Schools they are in.

If they were smart they would get onboard with places like IGRAD/IDEA and set up permanent Virtual Classrooms. Just think my fellow Alaskans. We could cut up to $650 Million of that $1.3 Billion budget they have by going Virtual.

It costs only $5,500.00 per student to have them in a Virtual Classroom. It Costs $18,000.00 per student to have them in a Brick and Mortar School.

My kiddo’s enrolled in it this year. They have already completed 7 Full Credit Classes this year. On track to be done with this School Year by Thanksgiving if they keep this pace up and unlike the Brick and Mortar Schools. They can move into the next School Years work if they want to. No longer are they being held back by the schools forcing them to wait for the entire class to finish their work together.

Here is another Link that shows that Alaska Schools have half of the Students enrolled into their Version of the Virtual Classrooms. Their biggest fear is all the money they are losing by not having our children buts sitting in their seats. They can care less if they provide an Quality Education. It is, as it has always been for decades now, “All About The Money”.

They are now providing a worse education then what they were providing before the Virus Hit.  Alaska was already the worst in the nation for providing an education.  Hard to swallow that “Fact”.  But here they are once again showing why we rank so bad designing their own “Unique” version of Virtual Classrooms.  What makes this even worse is they have increased what this year is costing with what they have received from the Covid-19 Cares Act Money.  Alaska has far surpassed the $1.3 Billion they have received and this is with “Half of the Staff” not even employed this year.  Alaska is Ranked near the Highest Costs in the nation.

Now those parents with a brain in their heads that doesn’t follow like sheep and believe everything they are being feed by the School Districts of Alaska, have enrolled their kids into Established Home School Programs. Just like I have done this year with my own Kiddo’s.  No Surprise to find out they are getting an better education then what our Brick and Mortar Schools can Provide.

October 21, 2020:

If only Our School System would step into the 21st Century and use establish education programs that have been used for decades, instead of making up their own….

They treat the Virtual School System like it only can be taught, jsut like they do in the Brick and Mortar way of teaching. This is why it has been a Spectacular Failure for them.

Myself…. I did the research to find out what has been working and enrolled my own Kiddo’s into actual Virtual Classrooms that have been used for over a Decade now. If it wasn’t for the Virus. I would never have done that. They went from being Jr’s in school this year and now are only 4 classes away from graduating their Senior Year.  No Longer held back to wait on the slowest learners in a classroom.  No Longer having to listen to hours & hours of speeches coming from teachers over a computer or in a classroom.  Now if they have a problem with a course they are taking.  The either go Virtual with their teacher for more help or schedule time to go to the “Home School” classroom to get “One on One Help”.

Our Union Run School Districts don’t want you to know the truth about why the system they are currently using during this Virus shutdown are failing. It all has to do with Money they won’t get if it was to succeed. They can care less about providing our kids with a Quality Education.

I can only imagine if I had enrolled my Kiddo’s into this years ago where they would have been at by now. I can only imagine at this point they would be in their second or third year of College Classes if it wasn’t for the Brick and Mortar way of teaching holding them back with the rest of the class.

Just imagine where your kids might be at right now…..

Just Imagine…..

Here is a link to what our School Districts and Teachers are saying. It takes getting to the bottom of the Article to see what the real motive is behind what they are currently doing. It has nothing to do with Providing a Quality Education. They have Failed to do that for Decades now. Bottom line for them is how much Money they will lose if they actually make Virtual Classrooms Work.

Now our School Districts are coming out and Fear Mongering to the Masses and MSM is fueling the fire. Those in control of the Agenda that is now in play in our School Districts don’t mind having our Children receiving an even worse education than they had in our Brick & Mortar Schools. They don’t care about the increase in depression and suicide this has caused. They don’t care that our Children have a 99.9999% chance of survival. All they care about is how much money they are socking away into their Rainy Day/Slush Fund Accounts.

Sad world we now live in when they are pushing so much unfounded fear:

Fairbanks School Board passes with a 4/3 Vote to pass a very Far Left Agenda to teach LGTBQ classes in school. If you needed another reason to move into a Qualified Home School or Private School. This policy would be the final nail in my coffin to make that move today.
